Process Group For Therapists

Clinical work is relational work and relational work inevitably evokes feeling. The feelings that get stirred in us by our work can be enormously valuable and they can also be confusing, uncomfortable or hard to sit with. When we have a space to explore them with others we can begin to use our reactions rather than be burdened by them. That makes for a richer experience of work, and a more sustainable life as a therapist.

This online process group is designed for therapists who want a dedicated space to explore countertransference, impasses, enactments, and the emotional impact of their clinical work within a group setting.

I am a clinical psychologist, psychoanalytic psychotherapist and clinical supervisor. I love talking with other therapists about their subjective experience of doing clinical work, how they are affected by the work, how they can use their own reactions, and how they can come to understand the interpersonal dynamics happening in the room with their patients.

Next group starting on Monday May 11th (details below)

Group Discussion Meeting

What is a Process Group?

This is not a case consultation group focused on technique or intervention strategies. It is a process-oriented space where we attend to countertransference responses, repetitive relational patterns, clinical impasses and stuck points, enactments, boundary issues, the emotional residue of the work and the therapist’s subjectivity in the room.

Why Join a Process Group?

Joining a process group provides a containing professional community that is oriented towards reflection over advice giving. It is an avenue to deepen awareness of patterns and personal vulnerabilities within your clinical work and allow for greater self awareness and awareness of interpersonal dynamics.

The next group I am running will start on Monday May 11th.

The group is conducted online, meets every week at 12pm for 80 minutes and costs $100 per session.

It is a small group with a maximum of 8 members which allows depth of exploration and requires an ongoing attendance from members.

If you would like to know more or wish to join a waitlist for this group please email me, I would love to answer any questions you have and talk more about what you hope to get out of being in a process group.
